Each of Southeast Denver’s various communities has its own distinct personality. Cherry Creek is located on the east side of University Avenue and is an upscale community with numerous new townhouses and duplexes ranging in price from $500,000 mixed among superb quality, newer single-family homes and brick bungalows dating back to the 1920s. Numerous boutiques, restaurants and art galleries are within easy walking distance. In summer, the Cherry Creek Arts Festival brings thousands to the area to celebrate artistic and musical work by artists and performers from all over the world.

The residential Wellshire neighborhood is known for its curvy, meandering streets. The Wellshire Golf Course, designed in 1926 by Donald Ross, takes up a full 25% of the area and includes the 13.4-acre Skeel Reservoir. The course’s former Clubhouse was remodeled in 1976 and is now the Wellshire Inn. The University of Denver is located nearby.

The Platt Park neighborhood was once part of the original Town of South Denver. The town's only mayor, James Fleming, built his home in the community in 1882. It has become a historic point of interest. The house, with its smooth stone walls and rotundas, was sold by Fleming in 1891 and served as the town hall, jail and library until annexed by the city in 1894. Located just west of the University of Denver's campus, the neighborhood is a popular location for students and local businesses.

Located northwest of the Cherry Creek Reservoir is Hampden Heights. The area is a golfer's paradise due to its location near several golf courses including John F. Kennedy, Meadow Hills and Heather Gardens (course and club). Nearby parks offer condo-dwelling residents an invitation to stretch out under a tree or toss a ball.

From mining's boomtown characters in the 1800s to today's high tech entrepreneurs, Denver has been home to all types of people from all walks of life. Residents and visitors alike enjoy skiing, golf, hiking and many other outdoor activities as well as various sporting events with new state-of-the-art arenas, Colorado Symphony performances, live theatre and a new aquarium called "Ocean Journey." Local sports venues include Coors Field, home of the Colorado Rockies; the Pepsi Center, where the Denver Nuggets and the Colorado Avalanche play; and Invesco Field at Mile High, home of the Denver Broncos.

So bring your sunglasses and cowboy boots (although cowboys are few and far between these days) and you'll fit right into the "Mile High City."
